This morning we delivered the 4Sight slot at the Redditch 4N breakfast meeting. We spoke about computer viruses, backup solutions, email spam, people and general IT support. We look forward to delivering our IT support presentation in Kidderminster at the end of May.

If you want to turn your Microsoft Word documents into PDF files there is a quick and easy solution. This solution is also free! Get yourself over to Google and look for CutePDF. This free tool will convert basically any file into a PDF file.
Friday 27th March 2009 - Free Anti Virus Software - Avira
As we have come across a few problems with AVG of late, we are now recommending Avira for personal home users. Avira is completely free and is high on the league tables for Anti Virus detection rates that are supplied to IT Support providers.

On our travels today we popped into the Hereford Expo organised through the Chamber of Commerce. It was a vibrant event and it was nice to support both our customers and suppliers.

We have seen a fair few hard disk related problems of late. If you computer isn't starting up or is constantly crashing, speak to your local experts. The first thing you should do is backup your data before the problem develops further.

We have once again had multiple reports of AVG update problems. It would appear as the number of users of their product increases, it is putting a further burden on their already busy update servers.

Today we are attending the Stratford-upon-Avon Business Show at the Civic Hall. It will provide an excellent opportunity for local businesses to showcase their expertise. We are looking forward to the seminars and networking opportunities, and as a final bonus, it's free!!
Wednesday 18th March 2009 - Google Chrome back in beta
Google have released another version of Chrome, its web browser client which renders pages quicker than the current stable release. Source - PC Pro.
Tuesday 17th March 2009 - iPhones given makeover
iPhone users will welcome the news that they will now be capable of a whole host of new features, such as Copy and Paste. This is all part of the OS3 release. Source - PC Pro.
Monday 16th March 2009 - Kaspersky licensing
Kaspersky have released a small business product which provides a package for 1 server and 5 clients with 12 month licenses. We will follow up on this later this month as it will be suitable for the majority of small business customers.
Friday 13th March 2009 - Symantec training
Today we went on the Symantec Roadshow, as we are registered partners with Symantec. The training was excellent, giving us an overview of the latest product offerings from Symantec and how they might be applied to our customers.
Thursday 12th March 2009 - Bromsgrove networking
This morning we were over in Bromsgrove for some business networking. Bromsgrove is an ideal location for us to provide our computer support and IT services in with it only being a few miles from our Redditch base.

You can still purchase Windows XP Professional on new computers. We simply wanted to clarify this as it is something we get asked about on a regular basis. Most customers are sticking with Windows XP and will upgrade straight to Windows 7 when it is released later on this year.
