Friday 29th May - Stratford-upon-Avon networking

This morning we were over in Stratford-upon-Avon for some business networking. It was good to see both regular networkers and new faces, keeping the meeting fresh and vibrant.

Tuesday 26th May - Redditch business networking

This morning we were at our home networking group of Redditch. We were there to discuss the variety of services available from other small businesses, including our own computer services and IT support.

Friday 22nd May - The Lucid List of recommended products

We are putting together The Lucid List which will be a preferred list of products aimed at the home, home office and small office. We have already reviewed and added a number of products onto this list. We hope to have this list completed in a couple of weeks.

Thursday 21st May - SatNav not working?

If your having problems with your SatNav device, it might be because the satellites it uses are in desperate need of replacement. There is a prediction that unless satellites are replaced SatNav devices could start to fail as early as next year. Source - PC Pro.

Wednesday 20th May - AVG 7.5 Upgrades

If your still running AVG Anti Virus 7.5 then you need to upgrade to version 8.5 immediately. AVG Anti Virus version 7.5 will no longer update itself so it is a must to keep yourself protected. If your using the paid version then the upgrade is completely free. For those of you using the personal home edition you can upgrade to the latest version for free.

Tuesday 19th May - Rubery Great Park business networking

This morning we were over in Rubery at the Great Park for some business networking. It was the usual blend of regular networking junkies and visitors which keeps the mix fresh.

A great way to start any business day is with some networking. This morning we were in Stratford-upon-Avon to have a chat, have a laugh and also talk a little bit of business with other businesses in and around the Stratford-upon-Avon area.

Thursday 14th May - Bromsgrove networking with the Chamber of Commerce

As members of the Chamber of Commerce for Herefordshire and Worcestershire we often get along to networking events organised by them. This morning we were in Bromsgrove to meet other small businesses to discuss what they do, how they might be able to help us and discuss our range of Computer Services and IT Support.

Wednesday 13th May - 1and1 offer a website in minutes

Web Hosting company 1and1 are launching a new service aimed at small businesses. They have created software which will allow someone with no technical expertise to produce a website in minutes. The cost for this is £9.99 per month. It will be officially launched later on this week. Lucid Computer Solutions will give this service a try to see what the end results are like. We will be surprised if the results are higher quality than having a web design specialist put a website together for you. Source - PC Pro.

Tuesday 12th May - Redditch networking

As we provide IT Support and Computer Services in Redditch it makes sense for us to meet up with fellow businesses in the local area. This is exactly what we did this morning, discussing both social and business matters over a cooked breakfast.

Monday 11th May - Tesco suffering after software update

This morning our local Tesco store wasn't accepting cash purchases at the petrol station. This seemed odd, but problems with tills were to blame which is fair enough. However having read through the IT news we have found that Tesco has actually suffered with a software update which has caused problems for its tills and around 100 stores have had to close as a consequence. Honestly, should have stuck to testing the update on a trial set of tills first!! Source - PC Pro.

Friday 8th May - Carphone Warehouse to purchase Tiscali

Carphone Warehouse has agreed a deal to purchase Internet Service provider Tiscali. This will make Carphone Warehouse the largest ISP in the UK with 4.25 million customers. Tiscali has been struggling financially and will be relived a buyer has now been found. Source - PC Pro & BBC.

Thursday 7th May - Windows 7 Release Candidate

Today we have started playing with Windows 7 in the office. So far we have only had one issue, and that is with getting our document scanner to work. Overall Windows 7 is snappy, reliable and an overall vast improvement over Windows Vista. We will post a detailed report in the near future which will discuss how Windows 7 will impact small businesses in the Midlands. To receive this report, please sign up for our newsletter service.

Wednesday 6th May - Speaking at Kidderminster breakfast

Lucid Computer Solutions owner, Gavin Moorhouse, delivered a ten minute insight into the world of IT Support and Computer Services in the Midlands this morning. Gavin touched upon the key areas of Anti Virus Solutions, Backup Solutions, User Errors and Windows 7. Look out for Gavin presenting again in the near future.

Tuesday 5th May - Rubery business networking

This morning we were back into the networking (not the wireless variety!) scene with a meeting over in Rubery. There was an excellent breakfast with some banter and a little bit of business networking for Midlands businesses as well.
