Wednesday 30th September | A good month comes to a close
September has been a good month for Lucid Computer Solutions. We have seen customers investing in new solutions, maintaining existing systems and looking to change their IT Support Services over to us. All in all, a cracking month.
Tuesday 29th September | Vodafone selling the iPhone
With the news yesterday that Orange will be selling the iPhone, Vodafone have announced similar plans for next year. Orange, o2 or Vodafone who would you go for?
Monday 28th September | Orange selling the iPhone
It would appear that o2's dominance with the iPhone is coming to an end with the news that Orange will be selling the iPhone. If you had the choice of an iPhone, Blackberry or Nokia, would you go for? We like Blackberry's, but would be tempted by a Nokia. Source - PC Pro.
Friday 25th September | Twitter to receive major funding
The social media website Twitter is expected to receive significant investment over the coming year, which could boost its market value towards the $1 billion mark. You can follow Lucid Computer Solutions owner, Gavin Moorhouse, on Twitter. Source- PC Pro.
Thursday 24th September | Google Mail problems
Google are having technical difficulties with its Google Mail email services. Some users are unable to log into their accounts. Google have confirmed the problems and are working on a resolution.
Wednesday 23rd September | No ads for Twitter this year
Twitter has ruled out placing adverts on the site this year. However we can expect paid for commercial accounts and improved search facilities. Source - PC Pro.
Tuesday 22nd September | Slow computer problems
A computer, laptop or server running slow can be highly frustrating. Thankfully there are a number of easy cures for this type of problem. You can add more memory, you could change your Ant Virus software or you could clean up your registry. You can read more about slow computer problems here.
Monday 21st September | Static IP addresses
Ever been told that you need a static IP address? You might need one (which is to do with your broadband connection) for email or remote access purposes. There is another way round this though, if your interested, contact us to discuss your IP requirements.
Friday 18th September | Stratford networking event
Stratford-upon-Avon is just down the road from Redditch so this morning we were in the area to meet and discuss businesses with fellow small businesses.
Thursday 17th September | Over in Malvern with the Chamber of Commerce
Ever since Lucid Computer Solutions was born, we have been members of the Hereford and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. This morning we popped over to Malvern to meet up with fellow businesses for a spot of breakfast.
Wednesday 16th September | VOIP phone services
We might be a little behind the times with this, but we are in process of migrating our old BT phone lines over to VOIP services. VOIP is basically using your broadband for phone calls, taking away the dependency on BT and gives you the ability to take your phone with you else where as they work on any Internet connection.
Tuesday 15th September | Redditch business breakfast
This morning we attended a business breakfast in our home town of Redditch. Breakfast was good, the company was good and we dare say, it was fun!
Monday 14th September | BBC paying for Google ranking
The BBC is paying to ensure its pages are ranked at the top of Google. We find this strange because the volume of traffic, content and inbound linked would surely boost the BBC site to the top of Google anyway. Source - PC Pro.
Friday 11th September | Twitter to make use of its 45 million users
Twitter could well start making money from its 45 million users by using adverts. At present the site isn't making any money but it has now changed its terms and conditions to allow adverts to placed on the site. Source - PC Pro.

With the improvements in mobile broadband technology, have you considered cancelling your traditional fixed phone line? We would love to hear from any business who runs their operations without a fixed phone line or without broadband services over a phone line.
Wednesday 9th September | Leamington business breakfast networking
This morning we were over in Leamington Spa for a business breakfast networking event. We discussed business, sport, computers and coffee. It's a great way to start the day!

Monday 7th September | Acer and Medion touch screen computers launched
Acer and Medion have launched new touch screen computers for use with Windows 7. Microsoft are keen to sell the touch screen as one of the major features of the new Operating System. Here at Lucid Computer Solutions, we feel that the touch screen might be popular in the home market, but we will wait and see if it takes off in the business sector. Source - PC Pro.
Friday 4th September | Stratford-upon-Avon networking
This morning we were back on the networking scene over in Stratford-upon-Avon. It was a welcome return and great to see regular and new faces.
Thursday 3rd September | Music videos returning to You Tube
Music videos will start appearing on video website You Tube again. The music industry has reached an agreement with You Tube which basically means they will receive a cash sum for allowing their videos to be broadcast on the website. Source - BBC.
Wednesday 2nd September | Gmail unavailable
Googles email service was unavailable for several hours today as an engineer upgrade to their servers brought the service to a halt. Gmail is used by both personal and business customers, this latest problem affected a reported 150 million users. Source - BBC.
Tuesday 1st September | Windows 7 to give laptops longer battery life
Windows 7 which is due to be released by Microsoft on 22nd October 2009 could give your laptop extra battery life. It does this by using power management which results in a lower load being put on the battery. This in turn could give you extra life when running on your battery. Source - BBC.
