








How to setup a VPN using Windows Vista
This article details how to setup a VPN connection into your office using Windows Vista.
Open the Windows Control Panel which is located on the right hand side of the Windows menu, which is accessed by clicking on the Windows button in the bottom left of the screen.
Click on the Network and Internet
item in Control Panel or double click on Network and Sharing
Centre.
Click on Connect to a Network item from the
left-hand side of the window.
Click on Setup a Connection or Network.
Choose the Connect to a Workplace option and click Next.
If it asks you (this doesn't always appear) choose
the No, create a new connection option and click on
Next.
Click on the option at the top of the screen which says Use my Internet Conenction (VPN)
Enter the name or IP address of the VPN remote access server to
connect to in the Internet Address box and enter a name (such as Company Name VPN) for the new VPN
connection in the Company Name field and click Next. The name chosen
need not match the name of an actual business.
Enter your username, password and domain name and then press the
Connect button to test the connection.
To connect to the VPN all you need to do is right click on the on icon that looks like two computers with the earth symbol next to them in the bottom right of the screen. Click on Connect to a Network. Choose the VPN connection and press the connect button.
To disconnect from the VPN right click on the icon that looks like two computers with the earth symbol next to them in the bottom right of the screen and click on Disconnect at the top of the menu.
